People - Government's 2023 consultation on holiday and pay

Regarding the carry-forward of holiday entitlement, employees unable to utilize their annual leave due to family or sick leave will now have specific provisions. Annual Leave Provisions Presently, an employee's minimum holiday entitlement comprises two components: - Four weeks of leave, as per EU law. - An additional 1.6 weeks of leave, as per UK law. According to EU law, the four weeks of leave must be compensated at the "normal" pay rate, whereas the 1.6 weeks can be paid at the "basic" pay rate- the dual rates persist.
